Blades Pick Up 5-2 Victory Over Tigers

The Saskatoon Blades picked up their 2nd consecutive victory on Sunday night thanks to another offensive outburst as the team picked up a 5-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Tonight it was Walker Wintoneak that led the Blades, scoring twice in the contest. Cody Chikie was also productive offensively as he posted 2 assists. Stefan Elliott, Ryan Funk, and Charles Inglis scored the teams other goals. All of the Blades 5 goals game unanswered until the Tigers finished the night with two tallies of their own from Zdenek Okal and Mark Isherwood.

Braden Holtby made his 4th consecutive appearance in goal for Saskatoon en route to picking up his 2nd win of the season. The Blades once again chased the opposition goalie out of the net in the game as Ryan Holfeld was pulled at the 17:39 mark of the 2nd period after allowing 4 goals against on 18 shots. Tyler Bunz played strong in relief as he stopped 13 of 14 shots.

The Blades power play failed to score in the game going 0 for 7. Heading into the game, the Blades had scored 1 power play goal in their past 3 games. The clubs penalty kill was 6 for 7 on the night.

Saskatoon will now hit the road for a 6 game road streak, their longest of the season. The team will not return to Credit Union Centre ice until October 22nd when they host the Portland Winter Hawks.
