St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release

SHREVEPORT, LA-The Blacksnakes (11-11, 37-33) saw their five-game winning streak snapped in a pitcher's duel, 2-0, to Shreveport (10-12, 36-34). Two Shreveport pitchers limited the Blacksnakes to just five hits in the loss. It was just the second time the Blacksnakes offense was shutout this season.

St. Joe's J.C. Huguet and Shreveport's Ryan Snyder locked up in a well pitched ballgame, with just an unearned run scoring in the first five innings. Shreveport took advantage of a throwing error on a stolen base to plate the run, and added one more in the sixth for a 2-0 lead. Both runs scored on sacrifice fly balls and were the only runs in the game.

Huguet (3-3) was outstanding in six innings, allowing just five hits and two runs, one earned, but Snyder (5-5) just outdid the ‘Snakes starter. Snyder tossed seven scoreless innings and has not allowed a run over his last 13 innings for Shreveport.

Ben Thomas and Wil Quintana each had two of the five St. Joe hits, with Thomas hitting two doubles.

St. Joe and Shreveport continue the three-game set Monday night at 7:05pm with Mark Nussbeck (6-3) opposing the Sports' Josh Neitz (2-4). You can catch all the action live at www.stjoeblacksnakes.com beginning at 6:45pm with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show.
