Sioux City got plenty of offense en route to ending Lincoln's winning streak at eight games. The Explorers pounded out 13 hits in the game, five of which were home runs. C Chris Grossman hit his eighth home run in a 4-for-5 effort in which he scored three runs and drove in two more. LF Jorge Moreno was 3-for-5 in the game with a pair of home runs, giving him 14 on the season. Moreno also scored three times and had three runs batted in, in support of starting pitcher Nate Holguin who came one out short of a complete game victory. The win for Sioux City moves them to within three games of Lincoln, who still holds the top spot in the North Division.

St. Joe 9, Coastal Bend 0

The Blacksnakes were the beneficiary of good pitching as they shut out Coastal Bend behind a strong performance from starter Jesen Merle. Merle scattered seven hits through seven innings and did not allow a run en route to picking up his fourth win of the season. The win for St. Joe gave them a three-game sweep of the Aviators and moves them to 11-11 on the year, 2.5 games behind Lincoln for first place in the North Division. Blacksnakes CF Scooter Jordan was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three runs batted in to lead St. Joe offensively. 3B Ben Thomas and LF Cory Harris each drove in a pair of runs in support of Merle.

Fort Worth 7, Pensacola 4

Fort Worth overcame a 4-2 deficit through six innings collectively scoring five runs in the last three innings, capped by a three-run ninth to edge Pensacola and take the lead in the South Division. Cats SS Marc Mirizzi was 2-for-5 in the contest, including his seventh home run of the season, with a run scored and three runs batted in. 1B Shawn Williams drove in a pair of runs as well in a 1-for-4 night at the plate. Pensacola out-hit the Cats by a 13-9 margin, but left seven runners on base. Steven Wilkerson closed things out in the ninth for Fort Worth to pick up his 10th save of the year.

St. Paul 10, Sioux Falls 7

St. Paul pounded out 16 hits in a slugfest against Sioux Falls in front the crowd of more than 6,500 that filled Midway Stadium. 1B Brian Buchanan was 3-for-5 in the game, including his fifth home run, with two runs scored and a run batted in. Saints C Jeremy Frost also homered for the fifth time of the season during his 1-for-2 effort in which he scored once and drove in four. Three players from St. Paul and C Dennis Anderson of Sioux Falls recorded three hits in the game and six other players from both teams had at least two.

Shreveport 5, El Paso 4 (11 innings)

Despite leaving 13 runners on base, Shreveport pulled out an extra-inning win over El Paso to improve to 10-12 in the second half and remain four games behind first place Fort Worth. Every player in the Shreveport lineup recorded at least one hit with 2B Neb Brown and C Tommy Bryant each recording two. El Paso 3B J.P. Schmidt had a great night offensively, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in. Sports reliever Gerson Mercedes received credit for the win, his third this year, after 2 2/3 innings of relief in which he didn't allow a hit and struck out four.
