St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release
ST. JOSEPH, MO - The question of the night was how St. Joe would respond from the devastating 16-inning loss Friday night. They responded very well, as the Blacksnakes (17-18, 43-40) dominated Lincoln (25-11, 56-28) behind Donovan Graves, 6-1.
Graves (8-5) went the distance for the third time this season and picked up just his second win in his last six outings.
The offense jumped out quickly against Lindsay Gulin with three runs in the first. Gulin walked Scooter Jordan to start the inning and Cory Harris singled Jordan to third. Then after the second out, the Blacksnakes recorded three straight run-scoring hits to take a 3-0 lead against the league leader in earned run average, Gulin.
After Lincoln got on the board in the fifth, the Blacksnakes nearly squandered a bases loaded, nobody out threat before plating three more runs. Mark Burke came through with a two-run single before Misha Dworken made it 6-1 with an RBI double.
Burke and Dworken combined for five hits and five runs batted in.
St. Joe now enters a three-game, head-to-head series with the wild card leading St. Paul Saints at Phil Welch Stadium. Andrew Edwards (1-4) goes for the Blacksnakes with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. It is our final "Ice Cream Sunday" of the season with the gates opening at 6pm.
