Bellevue Blackhawks News Release

Bellevue, WA. The ABA Bellevue Blackhawks professional basketball team has announced the signing of its first player in franchise history. Rashaad Powell, a 6'4" guard from the University of Idaho and Renton (WA) High School signed a one-year contract on Wednesday. Powell was named to the Big West All-Defensive Team in 2004.

Head Coach Rick Turner described Powell as: "An excellent player -- and an even better person -- who has a great passion for basketball, and will be a tremendous asset to this team." Turner continued, "Rashaad has great versatility. He plays very tough defense and can fill a multiple of positions on the court. He's exactly what this franchise is looking for: a talented athlete who can help us on and off the court."

The Bellevue Blackhawks begin their inaugural season in the ABA on November 22nd in Portland against the Reign. The Blackhawks first home game will be Thursday, November 25th (Thanksgiving night), at Bellevue Interlake Center, 16245 NE 24th Street, Bellevue, WA 98008, at 7PM against the Utah Snowbears.
