New England Black Wolves News Release
UNCASVILLE, Conn. - The New England Black Wolves announced today that Darryl Gibson will be joining the team as offensive coordinator. He will be replacing Jim Veltman, who has stepped away from the team.
Gibson saw action in 140 regular season games during his 13-year NLL career. A defenseman, he had 101 points on 28 goals and 73 assists while scooping up 582 loose balls. He won two Champions Cups with the Toronto Rock (2002 and 2003), was an All-Star in 2006 with the then-Minnesota Swarm and won five Mann Cups in Major Series Lacrosse (2000, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012).
"We'd like to thank Jim Veltman for all he's done for our organization and we wish him nothing but the best," Black Wolves general manager Rich Lisk said. "We're extremely excited to have someone of Darryl's character and reputation join our staff."
Gibson joins the Black Wolves after spending the 2018 season as the offensive coach with the Cobourg Kodiaks in Major Series Lacrosse. He served as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Swarm in 2014 and 2015 and as the head coach of the Newmarket Redbirds from 2007-12. During his tenure with Newmarket, the team qualified for the final six three times and won a Bantam A bronze in 2010. He also won a Creators Cup behind the bench as the defensive coach for the Durham Turfdogs in 2016.
"I am beyond excited for the next challenge in my lacrosse journey and to help guide this team to the next level," Gibson said.
Tickets for the 2018-19 season start at just $15 and are on sale now. For more information or to purchase, visit BlackWolves.com or call 844-LAX-WOLF.
