Black Hawks Comeback Falls Short Against Gamblers
December 5, 2008 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The puck was outside the line in a goalmouth scramble at the final horn Friday, stopping the Waterloo Black Hawks comeback bid in a 4-3 loss against the Green Bay Gamblers.
At one point, it was a 4-0 game. Nick Larson scored from close range with 23 seconds remaining in the second period to spark the rally. During a four-on-four stretch early in the third, Eriah Hayes split defenders, was pulled down and went sliding into the net with the puck and goalie Reid Ellingson to make the score 4-2. A power play goal by Patrick Wey with 2:11 remaining was the final score.
Green Bay had two goals each from William Rapuzzi and C.J. Lee. Lee scored his first on a shorthanded breakaway, one of three first period Gambler goals.
The Black Hawks return home Saturday to host the Omaha Lancers at Young Arena. Game time is 7:05. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Black Hawks window sticker from Famous Daves.
