Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
After falling in five consecutive games, including four one-goal losses, the Waterloo Black Hawks held the Des Moines Buccaneers without a score Friday to claim a 2-0 road win.
Jay Williams stopped all of the Buccaneers' chances for his third USHL shutout. Des Moines outshot Waterloo 30-23, including 11-6 in the third period.
The visitors pulled ahead 11:43 into the game when Joe Rehkamp beat Jason Kasdorf with a low shot from the left wing circle. Waterloo padded the lead at 10:54 of the third during a five-on-three power play. Ryan Papa fed the puck across the crease to Vince Hinostroza who scored into an open side.
The victory was the 300th for head coach P.K. O'Handley during his ten seasons with the Black Hawks. It was the 440th during his USHL career.
The Hawks play their final game before Christmas in Dubuque Saturday. Gametime for the matchup against the Fighting Saints is 7:05.
