Black Bears Stumped By Jackals Pitchers
July 4, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Berkshire Black Bears News Release
A capacity crowd at Wahconah Park saw the Black Bears one hit by the New Jersey Jackals on the 4th of July.
Starter Aaron Myers pitched 6 stellar innings, allowing just one base runner in the first inning, a 2-out single by Pete Paciorek and that would be all of the hits for Berkshire. New Jersey allowed two walks all night long, and that would be the only thing keeping the Northeast League's top pitching staff from throwing a perfect game Friday night. Offensively New Jersey was also in top form, scoring 9 runs and 13 hits, including a Travis Bailey solo blast, part of a disappointing rout here in Pittsfield. With the loss the Black Bears fall out of contention for the first half South Division crown. Dan Henderson took the loss (1-5) and Myers went to 5-3 with the victory.
The Black Bears are back in action tomorrow night at Wahconah, Doug Dimma against Jackson Crowther Saturday, first pitch 7:05 pm.
