Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD- The Berkshire Black Bears announced on Tuesday the signing of righthander Rick Guttormson. A 1997 draft choice of the San Diego Padres, Guttormson is another addition to a revamped Black Bears pitching staff. He was a California League All-Star in 1999 with Rancho Cucamonga, notching 14 victories. In 2002, Rick pitched for Yuba-Sutter and Chico in the Western League and made an impression on Black Bears manager Darren Bush. "Rick is an ultra competitive pitcher whose fire doesn't diminish when he's not pitching", says Bush.
The Berkshire Black Bears begin their second season at Wahconah Park on June 2 against the Quebec Les Capitales. Season and individual game tickets are now on sale by calling the Berkshire Black Bears office at (413) 448-2255. More information on the Berkshire Black Bears can be obtained by visiting their website at www.berkshireblackbears.com.
