PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears and the Allentown Ambassadors battled back and forth for 9 innings, trading hits and runs, in the end Allentown came out the winner 5-4. Black Bears starting pitcher Doug Dimma had a rough start giving up 2 runs in the first inning on just 2 base hits. Defensive errors plagued Black Bears shortstop Luis Mercedes.
Dimma pitched 6 innings before turning the ball over to Mike Minerva. Minerva pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing an earned run on 1 hit and 1 walk. Matt Bailie came in to pitch 2 2/3 of hitless baseball. He allowed 1 run when he hit a batter. On the offense Curtis Goodwin extended his hitting streak to 21 games when he singled in the 3rd inning. He also singled and scored in the 5th inning. Joe Kerrigan singled twice as did Chris Sawyer. Ender Gonzalez, Luis Mercedes, Chris Vasquez and Scott Allen all had singles. Allen's hit extends his hitting streak to 7 games.
