PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears got solid pitching from Jackson Crowther and no errors in the field but came up one run short in a 4-3 loss the Elmira Pioneers Wednesday night at Wahconah Park.

Crowther pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up all 4 runs on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2. The Black Bears got on the board with 2 runs in the 5th inning. An RBI single by Luis Mercedes, which plated Ryan Smith and a sacrifice Flyball by Curtis Goodwin, that scored Scott Allen. Right fielder Michael Moore found his stroke as he blasted a solo home run over the left center field wall in the 6th inning.

The Black Bears host the Pioneers for the third and final game of the series Thursday night at Wahconah Park. The game will start at 7:20 in order to make room for the "Tribute To Britney" show which will begin at 6:45.
