April 27, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release

TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Roughnecks played host to the Oklahoma City Energy on Saturday, April 27th at ONEOK Field. Building on a victory in their previous game, the Roughnecks were looking to take advantage of their momentum against rivals, the OKC Energy. After absorbing pressure the opening couple of minutes, Janu Silva finished the team's first attempt in the 4th minute with an assist by Rodrigo Da Costa. Silva tucked the chance away in the bottom corner before being subbed off in the 16th minute due to an apparent ankle injury. The rest of the half was full of end to end play plagued by fouls committed by each side. Omar Gordon was able to put his head on a set piece cross in the 32nd minute to bring the game level. The half ended all squared up at one as both sides looked to claim the lead in the second half.

The second half began quickly as both teams were pushing for the goal to put them in front. In the 51st minute, Mason Stajduhar kept the Roughnecks level with a save from within his own six yard box on an attempt by Cordell Cato. Each team had multiple chances to take the lead throughout the half, yet struggled to put one in the back of the net. Latter in the half, each team looked to keep hold of the point to gain from the draw as the game finished all even at one.

The Tulsa Roughnecks will be back on the road for their next four matches, but begin their trip away from home with a match against Reno 1868 FC next Saturday, May 4th.

Quotes from Head Coach: Michael Nsien"Not getting a win tonight was a little disappointing, and also seeing Janu Silva getting injured. He's been a pivotal player this year. He links the midfield and also scores goals for us. Seeing him going down early made us suffer a bit, but we have to move forward."

"Every time we play at home we expect to win. It was a great turnout by the fans and we wanted to reward them by giving them a win."

"Since it was such a big rivalry game, I think the referee called it a little bit tight, it made the game tight with a lot of free kicks. But after the game, the players shook hands and it was a healthy competition."
