NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club General Manager Mike Jacobs took in some Vanderbilt baseball on Friday night, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Commodores game against No. 25-ranked Auburn Tigers. Vanderbilt is one of the best teams in the nation again, ranked 5th in the country by D1baseball.com.

Jacobs is a big baseball fan, growing up just 10 minutes North of Yankee Stadium in Tappan, N.Y. Friday night was Jacobs first 'first-pitch,' and he threw to Vandy outfielder Cooper Davis.

While Jacobs didn't throw a strike, it was a unique experience and one he enjoyed.

"As a lifelong baseball fan it was an honor to get to do that in my new hometown," said Jacobs. "It looks a lot closer from the stands than when you're out there on the rubber. There's a reason I've had a career in soccer instead of baseball."

While at Vandy for the game, Jacobs met legendary Vanderbilt baseball head coach Tim Corbin, a national champion in 2014 with the Commodores.
