Bisons Offer Opening Day Tickets to Anyone Who Has Lost Their Job
April 2, 2009 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that they will offer up to four FREE tickets to Opening Day 2009 to any person who has lost their job.
The Bisons recognize that many of the same fans that have helped the team set numerous attendance records have now fallen on hard times with the downturn in this country's economy. With the hope and promise of Spring and a new baseball season, the team wanted to make sure that all their great fans and their families have a chance to attend Opening Day on Thursday, April 9 against the Pawtucket Red Sox (3:05 p.m.).
"Our nation's pastime has seen this country through many tough times, and together the two have always come out on top," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Bisons. "Many of the fans that helped us shatter attendance records are the ones being affected by this unsettling economic environment. The Bisons are honored to make all those fans our guests on Opening Day."
"Spring is here in Western New York, and with it, a new beginning for the Buffalo Bisons and their fans," State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith said, "On April 9, come to the ballpark, bring your families and most importantly, watch the Bisons trounce the Red Sox. Just as Opening Day is filled with promise, we at the State Labor Department are proud to be teaming with the Bisons to spread the promise of hope to the unemployed right here in Western New York."
How Fans Can Get Their Tickets:
Fans wishing to take advantage of this ticket offer must pick up their tickets at the Coca-Cola Field Box Office or at any one of three One-Stop Career Centers no later than Monday, April 6 at 5:00 p.m. Fans need only to show their unemployment debit card or the letter stating their unemployment funds have been designated into a personal account at the Bisons Box Office (Bisons are not asking people to surrender any documents/identification).
