TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons travel to Lehigh Valley to begin a four-game series with the IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is back on the road after going 3-3 in a six-game homestand with Syracuse and Indianapolis. On the mound tonight for Buffalo is LHP John Halama. The southpaw last pitched on August 2, throwing six innings but not earning a decision in a 5-3 Bisons' loss. Lehigh Valley will counter with RHP Carlos Carrasco.
QUALITY STARTER: Since joining the Herd on June 6, LHP John Halama has demonstrated the ability to work deep into games. Halama has not thrown fewer than five innings in any of his 11 starts and has pitched seven innings or more in four of his last five outings. He leads the team in wins (7) and complete games (2) and is tied for tops on the team with seven quality starts (7, RHP Matt Ginter). In his last four starts, the southpaw is 2-1 with a 2.03ERA.
HEATING UP: INF Jordan Brown had three more hits last night (3-5, RBI) and is now hitting .368 (7-19) in six games this August. The 24-year-old has now reached base safely in 15 of his last 17 games, going 19-59 (.322) during that stretch. That includes six runs, five doubles, a home run, 12RBI and 10 walks.
CATCHING ON: C Chris Gimenez has settled nicely into his role as the Bisons backstop. Gimenez heads to Lehigh Valley having reached base safely in 13 his last 15 games. Since the All-Star Break, the catcher has hit .314 (16-51) with four RBI and 12 walks in 15 games. After hitting .167 in June, Gimenez has batted .283 (26-92) in 27 games with the team.
BISONS BITS: OF Trevor Crowe reached base four times last night (single, double, 2 walks) and has now reached base safely in 12 of his first 13 Triple-A games...RHP Bubbie Buzachero has earned a save in three straight appearances...RHP Jeff Weaver has posted back-to-back scoreless relief outings (3.1IP). Prior to that, his last relief appearance was in Game 4 of the 2003 World Series while with the New York Yankees.
