TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the first game of a two-game series at Dunn Tire Park (6:05pm). The Herd began their eight-game in nine-day homestand with a two-game sweep of the Pawtucket Red Sox this weekend. Buffalo won 4-1 on Saturday and 4-3 yesterday afternoon. On the mound tonight will be RHP Adam Miller. The Indians' #1 prospect by Baseball America made his 2008 debut last Wednesday in Scranton/WB and allowed just three unearned runs in five innings of a no-decision. The Yanks will counter with LHP Kei Igawa.
MILLER TIME: RHP Adam Miller looked perfectly healthy with a five-inning performance in his 2008 debut last Wednesday. Miller allowed just three singles, a double and three unearned runs to the Yankees. He also struck out two and left the ballgame with a lead. Miller was 5-4 with a 4.82ERA with the Bisons last season but was limited to 19 games because of injuries.
THE WAY TO START: In the last nine games, Bisons starting pitchers have combined to go 3-2 with a 1.77ERA. The group has allowed just nine earned runs in 45.2 innings of work. Even more impressive are the group's 40 strikeouts to only 38 hits allowed. On the season, Bisons starters have a 3.54ERA with 99 strikeouts in 124.2 innings of work.
EXTRA, EXTRA: Yesterday, infielder Jordan Brown collected his sixth double in the last eight games. He know has 11 doubles on the season, two more than any other batter in the International League and tied for 5th most in all of minor league baseball. Brown also leads the Bisons with 26 hits (T6th in IL) and 14 runs scored (T7th in IL).
HAVE YOU HERR'D: Infielder Aaron Herr has hit in eight straight games (.355, 11-31) and in 14 of his last 15 contests (.351, 20-57). His RBI-single in yesterday's game gave him 14RBI in his last 13 games. Coming into today, Herr leads the Bisons in average (.289), triples (3) and RBI (17). He's tied for the team lead in homers (4).
BISONS BITS: The Bisons have turned 8 doubleplays in their last 3 games...the Bisons are a perfect 11-11 stealing bases over the last 6 games. OF Jason Tyner leads the team with 5 steals. RHP Rick Bauer has pitched scoreless baseball in 9 of his 10 outings (5 saves)...Andy Gonzalez's pinch hit AB on Sunday was the Bisons first pinch hitter in 2008.
