TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Today's game begins a stretch of 22 home games in the next 27 days for the Herd. Buffalo is coming off a 3-5 roadtrip in Louisville and Indianapolis. The Bisons are 25-27 at home this season.

THRUWAY CUP: Entering tonight's contest, Buffalo occupies first place in the 2012 Thruway Series, followed by Syracuse and Rochester. In the three-way battle, the Bisons hold a record of 12-7 for first place, including a 7-3 record versus Syracuse. The Chiefs follow in second (13-10) with Rochester rounding out in third (7-15).

OLSON: LHP GARRETT OLSON takes the ball tonight for the Herd, his 21st start of the season. In his last start at Louisville on July 27, Olson allowed a run in four innings of work with a pair of strikeouts. Since the All-Star break, Olson holds a 1-1 record with a 2.77ERA in 13.0 innings and eight strikeouts. He allowed three runs in five innings in his only other start against the Chiefs, a loss on May 1 at Coca-Cola Field.

WHEELER: RHP ZACK WHEELER will make his Bisons and Triple-A debut against the Chiefs on Sunday. The Mets #1 prospect by Baseball America has joined the club after a great season at Binghamton (AA). With the B-Mets, Wheeler was 10-6 with a 3.26ERA and an Eastern League-best 117 strikeouts.

FAMILIAR FOES: The Bisons final 33 games of the year are against divisional foes. The Herd has six more contests with the Chiefs, four with the PawSox and seven each with the Red Wings and the Yankees. Buffalo and Lehigh Valley will meet nine more times. The Herd is 26-21 against the IL North.

BISONS BITS: In his first start since June 9, RHP JENRRY MEJIA allowed one run in three innings on Tuesday night. He also singled in his only at bat...Tuesday's contest marked OF KIRK NIEUWENHUIS first start with the Bisons since Opening Day 2012. He went 2-4 with an RBI-double...RHP JEFF STEVENS recorded his first save of the season on Tuesday in Louisville. It was his first save as a Bison since July 2, 2008. He saved five games that year.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (51-54) defeated San Francisco 2-1 last night in the third-game of their four-game road series. Former Bisons LHP JON NIESE collected the win in 7.0 innings, allowing only seven hits. The Mets will look for the series win today (3:45 p.m.) as RHP CHRIS YOUNG gets the nod.
