TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the first game of a five-game in four-day series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The clubs will play a doubleheader on Sunday. This is the Herd's final homes series of the 2012 season. The Bisons were swept in a five-game set with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin this homestand.
THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons have seven games remaining in the Thruway Cup, all against the Rochester Red Wings. Buffalo currently sits atop the standings at 15-10, a game ahead of Syracuse (16-13) and 6.5 ahead of Rochester (7-15). The Herd looks to win the Thruway Cup this season for the first time since the 2007 season when Buffalo went 19-16 against its I-90 foes.
SCHWINDEN: RHP CHRIS SCHWINDEN takes the mound for his 18th start of the season with the Herd tonight. The righty is coming off a loss against Scranton/WB where he went five innings and allowed four runs. Schwinden had his first start of the season in Rochester, getting the win on April 7 at Frontier Field (5.0IP, 2R, 0ER, 4K). He has started six games against Rochester in his career, posting a 4-1 record and a 3.66ERA (32.0IP, 29H, 31K).
LEWIS: OF FRED LEWIS scored his 72nd run of the season last night. The total is 4th most in the International League this year, just five shy of Syracuse's OF Corey Brown and Columbus' INF Cord Phelps. It's also the most by a Bisons player since OF Ben Francisco scored 80 runs in 2006. Lewis also leads the Bisons with a .287 average and 41 extra-base hits.
CARPENTER: RHP DREW CARPENTER made his Bisons debut last night with an inning of shutout relief. Carpenter was promoted from Double-A Binghamton yesterday after recording three saves in five games with the B-Mets. Carpenter was 6-3 with a 3.38ERA in 21 games and 12 starts with Triple-A Las Vegas earlier this year. He posted a 5.00ERA in 6 games for Toronto.
BISONS BITS: LHP JUSTIN HAMPSON extended his scoreless streak to 7.1IP (6G) last night tossing an inning of relief...INF JOSH SATIN'S .390 on-base percentage is second in the International League. Satin also picked up his team-leading 25th double in last night's loss.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (57-69) lost 3-1 to Houston last night. INF DAVID WRIGHT hit his 200th home run as a Met in the loss. That puts the All-Star third in team history behind Mike Piazza (220) and Darryl Strawberry (252). New York plays Houston from Citi Field this afternoon (1:10 p.m.) with former Bisons R.A. DICKEY on the mound.
