Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the series opener of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to continue their four game winning streak at home after sweeping the Syracuse Chiefs. Buffalo will play the second game of the series Tuesday with first pitch at 6:05 p.m.

Last Game: BUF 6, SYR 1

LHP Ryan Borucki allowed just two hits over a scoreless seven innings pitched. The lefty struck out five and walked two batters to help lead the Herd to a victory. Buffalo jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the second inning with INF Darnell Sweeney and OF Roemon Fields contributed with 2 RBI's each.

Today's Starter: RHP Sam Gaviglio

RHP Sam Gaviglio is making his fifth start for the Bisons but is looking for his first win of the season. In his last outing on 5/2 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the righty pitched 7.1 innings with a season high of eight strikeouts.

Rochester (0-0)

The Bisons and Red Wings will square off for the first time this season due to inclement weather conditions forcing them to postpone their earlier matchups. The teams will meet for a total of 17 games this season, with Buffalo heading to Frontier Field May 25th-28th for a 6 game series.

Tim Lopes

INF Tim Lopes continues to lead the International League in batting with a .403 average. Lopes went 1-3 yesterday and has now hit in all but two of his 19 starts this season. With his seven walks, Lopes has now moved to second in on base percentage with a .456 in the IL standings.

Darnell Sweeney

INF Darnell Sweeney led the team with 3RBI in yesterday's 6-1 win over the Syracuse Chiefs. He went 2-3 with a two-out double in the eighth inning to add to the Bisons lead. Sweeney is now in third for the Herd in RBI's with 11 total.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons are now 10-0 when scoring first, one of only two teams (Pawtucket 11-0) that are undefeated when plating the first run.. Buffalo topped their season high of most walks (8) and most left on base (17) in a game v SYR...RHP Carlos Ramirez picked up his first save of the season.

Transactions

RHP Jake Petricka, RHP Luis Santos and INF Richard Urena have been activated to the Bisons. RHP Conor Fisk has been transferred to Double-A New Hampshire.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (19-16) broke their three game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Tampa Bay. OF Anthony Alford went 1-4 in his first appearance for the Blue Jays. Toronto has the day off today but will return home for a three game series against the Seattle Mariners, as part of an overall six-game homestand. They will welcome the Boston Red Sox for three games.
