Today's Games
This evening, the Bisons and Syracuse Mets begin a four-game series at NBT Bank Stadium. Following Sunday's afternoon game, reliever Justin Shafer and manager Bobby Meacham will represent the Herd at the 2019 Triple-A All-Star game in El Paso, TX. The Herd will be in Pawtucket next Thursday after the thre-day break for the midsummer classic.
Last Game (1): BUF 5, LHV 4 F/8
Buffalo walked it off in the bottom of the eighth to take the first game of the twinbill on Independence Eve. Reese McGuire collected the game-winning two-run single that backed RHP T.J. Zeuch's six strong innings on the mound.
Last Game (2): BUF 4, LHV 6
Much like the first game, runs were plentiful in the latter of the twinbill. Patrick Kivlehan blasted his 11th home run in a Bisons uniform after hitting one in the first contest. LHP Tayler Saucedo extended his scoreless inning streak to 11.2 IP in his third straight start by yielding just one hit in his three innings of work.
Syracuse Mets (4-6)
Buffalo and Syracuse meet again after playing each other last week at Sahlen Field. The Herd took two of the three games to finish off their hot month of June and tie them with Rochester for the best record in the International League (20-10) in the month.
Tonight's Starter
LHP Thomas Pannone looks to pick up his third straight victory as he takes the ball on Independence Day. In his last start on June 29th, the southpaw gave up one run in six innings against the Mets and also fanned nine batters. He was named the IL Pitcher of the Week for his perfect week last week.
Patrick Kivlehan
The Bisons have seen players go deep twice in a game seven times this season, and Patrick Kivlehan has accounted for three of those. While he didn't have a two home run game on Wednesday, the infielder did hit a home run in both games of the twinbill. It was his eighth and ninth home runs in 26 night games with Buffalo.
Bisons Bits
With two stolen bases last night, Buffalo has reclaimed the IL lead in swiped bags with 78...Despite the bullpen struggling in game two, they have a 1.36 WHIP which is good for 3rd in the IL.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (33-54) hit three home runs that helped lift them to a 6-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Danny Jansen and Brandon Drury all went deep for the Jays. Jacob Waguespack earned his first Major League win in five innings after David Phelps opened the game. RHP Marcus Stroman faces RHP Hector Velazquez at Rogers Centre with first pitch scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
