Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Mets used a six-run sixth inning to come back and top the Buffalo Bisons, 7-5, in front of an electric, sellout crowd of 12,063 fans on Independence Day in Syracuse Thursday night. The crowd was the 16th largest in NBT Bank Stadium history.

Syracuse (42-44) trailed Buffalo, 3-1, entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Mets escaped the tyranny of the Bisons lead in the frame. Arismendy Alcantara started the frame with an infield single. Rajai Davis followed suit with a single of his own to put runners on first and second with no outs. Tejada then delivered perhaps the biggest hit of the game. The Mets third basemen drilled a three-run homer over the left-center-field wall to give Syracuse its first lead of the night, 4-3. Two batters later, René Rivera singled for the fourth hit of the inning. Rymer Liriano then walked, and Gregor Blanco continued the rally with a single to load the bases with one out. Travis Taijeron then cracked a two-run single down the right-field line to push Syracuse up by three, 6-3. From there, Gavin Cecchini walked to load the bases again, and Arismendy Alcantara scored Blanco from third on a sacrifice fly to give the Mets a 7-3 advantage. In total, 11 Mets batters came to the plate in the sixth, eight reached base, and six runs scored on seven hits in the frame.

Buffalo (43-42) cut one run off the deficit in the top of the seventh. Jordan Patterson led off the inning with a double, moved to second on a groundout, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Socrates Brito to trim the Syracuse lead to three, 7-4.

In the eighth, the Bisons threatened. Buffalo loaded the bases with singles from Richard Urena and Reese McGuire and a walk from Andy Burns. Stephen Nogosek got out of the two-out rally with a pop out to third though, keeping it 7-4 Syracuse after the top of the eighth.

Buffalo's Bo Bichette led off the top of the ninth with a home run to make it 7-5 Syracuse. Then, Brito walked, and Jonathan Davis singled to put the tying-run on base with no outs. From there, Tim Peterson retired the next three batters in a row to close the door for the win.

The Bisons opened the scoring in the top of the third. Burns led off the inning with a walk, Patterson singled him over to third, and Burns scored on a sacrifice fly from Brito, giving Buffalo a 1-0 lead.

Syracuse countered in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Mets shortstop Danny Espinosa crushed a solo home run to right field to tie the ballgame, 1-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, Buffalo regained the lead. Billy McKinney singled with one out, and Patrick Kivelhan followed with an RBI double down the left-field line, giving Buffalo the 2-1 lead. After that, Richard Urena singled, and Kivelhan then came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Bisons catcher Reese McGuire, putting Buffalo up 3-1 in the sixth.

Syracuse hosts Buffalo again on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium. RHP Walker Lockett is scheduled to start on the mound for the Mets. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
