The Syracuse Chiefs fell to the Buffalo Bisons, 7-1, on Wednesday morning at NBT Bank Stadium, in front of an Education-Day crowd of 8.852. Buffalo scored all of its seven runs with two outs in the win.

Buffalo (18-12) began the scoring in the top of the third. Shane Opitz and Dwight Smith Jr. both singled off Taylor Hill with a strikeout in between. Then, with runners on first and second, Jake Elmore singled to right, plating Opitz and moving Smith to second. Rowdy Tellez then doubled on a fly ball off the right-field fence, scoring Elmore and Smith. The Bisons weren't done yet. Jason Leblebijian hit a ground-rule double on a fly ball to right which plated Tellez. Buffalo held a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Opitz singled again with two outs. Then, Christian Lopes blasted a line drive to left for a double, scoring Opitz.

Hill hit Elmore with a pitch to lead off the top of the fifth. Two batters later, Roemon Fields doubled on a line drive to center, moving Elmore to third. Finally, Raffy Lopez singled to left. Elmore and Fields both scored on the play.

Syracuse (10-18) finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth. Brandon Snyder doubled off Will Browning on a line drive to left-center with two outs. Pedro Severino then singled to center and Snyder scored on the play.

The Chiefs continue their homestand Thursday night against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at 6:35. Kyle McGowin will start for Syracuse while Bryan Mitchell will pitch for the RailRiders.
