
First Place Pigs Look to Sweep Red Wings

The IronPigs (18-13) and Rochester Red Wings (14-13) conclude their three-game series after the Pigs took game two of the series 4-1 last night. With the win the Pigs are now tied with the Buffalo Bisons (17-12) for first place in the Northern Division and Wild Card Standings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park.With last night's victory, the Pigs have reached a season high four-game winning streak and have set a new high-water mark of five games over .500. The Pigs have also posted a 15-7 record since April 14 as they started the season 3-6 and are now 6-2 in the month of May. The Pigs will send right-hander Aaron Nola (0-0, 0.00) and the Red Wings will send left-hander David Hurblut (2-2, 1.61). RHP Aaron Nola will make a rehab start for the Pigs after being placed on the 10-day disabled list by the Phillies on April 24, retroactive to the lower back strain he suffered April 21. In his last outing, Nola picked up his second win of the season as he tossed five innings surrendering four runs on seven hits in a 6-4 Phillies win over the New York Mets on April 20. LHP David Hurlbut is making his fifth start for the Red Wings. In his last outing on May 3, against Buffalo, the Fullerton, Calif., native picked up his second win of the season as he tossed five innings allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits in a 5-3 Red Wings win over the Bisons. The IronPigs (18-13) defeated the Rochester Red Wings (14-13) 4-1 in route to their season-high fourth straight win at Coca-Cola Park Tuesday night. Back-to-back singles from Roman Quinn and J.P. Crawford set the table for two RBI groundouts in the bottom of the first inning. Cameron Perkins and Rhys Hoskins each bounced out to Red Wings third baseman Tommy Field to plate the games first two runs to give the Pigs a 2-0 lead. Rochester then answered in the top of the third inning with their lone run as Zack Granite bounced into a double play that scored Ben Paulsen to put the Red Wings on the board as they trailed 2-1 after three. Crawford plated Logan Moore in the bottom of the fifth when he bounced into a double play to up the Pigs lead to 3-1. He later plated Pedro Florimon as he roped an RBI single into right field to give the Pigs a 4-1 lead after seven. Pigs starter Ben Lively (4-1, 2.48) picked up his fourth win of the season as he tossed 7 1/3 innings allowing just one earned run on six hits and fanned four Red Wings bats. The win is Lively's fourth-straight victory and it led to the IronPigs season-high fourth consecutive victory. The 2017 Season is the IronPigs 10th Anniversary season at Coca-Cola Park and 10th as the top affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
