JACKSON, Tenn. - The Biscuits (21-25) finished with a season-high 17 hits in a 14-1 thrashing of the Jackson Generals Tuesday night at the Ballpark in Jackson.
Every single player in the Biscuits lineup finished with at least one hit while five had multiple hits including a 4-for-5 night from Joey Rickard who also had three runs scored and three RBI.
The Generals scored first in the first inning off of Bradin Hagens (3-4) but were shut down the rest of the way. Hagens went six innings and only allowed one unearned run and three hits for his second victory in as many starts.
After four runs in the third to take the lead, the Biscuits added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings then scored eight runs in the final two innings to make it 14-1.
Tommy Coyle, Cameron Seitzer and Johnny Field all doubled in the four-run third inning, while Rickard tripled in the frame. In the eighth inning, Boog Powell, Daniel Robertson, Tyler Goeddel, Patrick Leonard, Justin O'Conner and Rickard all singled to make it a five-run eighth. Robertson doubled home two runs in the ninth while Seitzer drove in the final run of the game.
Justin O'Conner finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored for his first three-hit game of the season.
Game two of the series is Wednesday night at 7:05. RH Jaime Schultz will throw for the Biscuits while LH Misael Siverio is on the hill for the Generals.
