Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (46-38) defeated the South Division-leading Pensacola Blue Wahoos (40-42), 8-2, on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits' offense exploded in the second inning, starting with a lead-off single by Brett Sullivan. Serving as the catalyst, Sullivan swiftly scored on an RBI-double from Nathan Lukes. Jake Cronenworth added another run off Pensacola starting pitcher Wyatt Strahan (5-8), bringing home the outfielder on an RBI-single.

Montgomery reignited its blistering bats in the fourth. In a frame which started with Nathan Lukes reaching on a third-strike wild pitch, Montgomery posted six runs, extending its lead to 8-0. Mike Brosseau, Jake Cronenworth and Nick Solak each had an RBI in the barrage. First baseman Nate Lowe concluded the attack with an exclamation point, blasting his sixth home run with the Biscuits and sixteenth of the season.

Despite being shutout through seven innings by Biscuits' starter Brandon Lawson and reliever Curtis Taylor (2-1), Pensacola broke through with a pair of runs in the eighth. Aristides Aquino welcomed Roel Ramirez with a single prior to Gavin LaValley hitting his seventh home run.

Despite the early turbulence, Ramirez retired three of the next four batters before Travis Ott produced a scoreless ninth, evening the series at one game apiece.

The Biscuits continue a four-game set against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Friday on Video Game Night, which includes several e-sports tournaments, at 6:35 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biscuits will offer Genesis Cabrera (6-4) while Pensacola is projected to start Seth Varner (4-0).

The series concludes with Christmas in July and MAX Fireworks on Saturday, July 7.
