Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (4-6) allowed four runs in the fourth and three more in the ninth, and dropped game five of their six-game series to the Chattanooga Lookouts (7-4), 7-2, on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Caleb Sampen (0-1) made his second Double-A start and Riverwalk Stadium debut, and cruised through the first three innings, retiring the first four batters he faced. Lookouts starter Reiver Sanmartin (2-0) also looked sharp early, striking out two and allowing just a single to Dillon Paulson in a scoreless first.

The Biscuits would get on the board first thanks to Chattanooga shortstop Jose Garcia's throwing error on a possible double play ball that scored Garrett Whitley from second for the 1-0 lead.

Sampen would run into trouble in the fourth inning, serving up a two-run single to former Biscuit Robbie Tenerowicz, and RBI-singles to Lorenzo Cedrola and Alejo Lopez-all in consecutive at-bats-giving the Lookouts a 4-1 lead. Sanmartin struck out eight Biscuits through his first four innings of work, and finished the game with nine, after Whitley tripled off the wall in center and scored Montgomery's second run on a Jake Palomaki RBI-groundout to make it 4-2.

Faustino Carrera came on for Sampen in the fourth and put together his best outing of the season, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings of relief. Jose Garcia added a three-run homer off Brian Shaffer in the ninth to seal the victory for Chattanooga.

The first six-game home stand of the 2021 season concludes with a Monty Night Light Giveaway presented by Little Caesars Pizza on Sunday, May 16 at 3:33 PM CT when RHP Shane Baz (0-1) takes on Hunter Greene (2-0) as the Biscuits aim to split the series.
