KODAK, TN - Despite scoring ten runs on a season-high 12 hits, the Biscuits were unable to hold off the Southern League's top offense as the Tennessee Smokies banged out 16 hits in a 12-10 victory over the Biscuits.

The Smokies took the lead for good in the eighth inning against Paul Phillips (0-1) as Blake Lalli doubled down the left field line with the bases loaded. They had tied the game an inning earlier with three against Marquis Fleming, getting a two-run single from Marwin Gonzalez and an RBI sac fly from Brett Jackson to even it at 10-10.

After each team scored once in the first, the Biscuits retook the lead thanks to an RBI-single from Stephen Vogt and an RBI-triple from Daniel Mayora in the 3rd. The Smokies, though, answered with three in the last of the third to claim their first lead of the evening and added one in the fourth to make it 5-3.

But the Biscuits remained resilient, scoring three in both the fifth and the sixth, then one in the seventh to stake their biggest lead of the night at 10-7.

The Smokies scored in seven of their eight innings to get to 4-2 on the year. Jackson and Gonzalez both collected three hits to lead the way for the Smokies. John Shelby recorded his first three-hit game as a Biscuit, while Mayora did the same finishing a homer short of the cycle.

Blake Parker (1-0) grabbed the win for the Smokies, allowing a run over two innings. Both starters took no-decisions with Matt Moore getting touched up for six runs on ten hits over his 4.1 and Chris Rusin allowing six runs on nine hits in four full.

RHP Chris Archer will take the ball in game two for the Biscuits against Tennessee RHP Rafael Dolis beginning at 6:15 CT.
