
Birmingham Stallions Ride Past the Showboats in Impressive Home Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Stallions clashed with the Memphis Showboats in the first home game after the UFL merger. The Stallions, led by Adrian Martinez, held firm control of the game from start to finish. Martinez ended his first home game as a Stallion being designated Player of the Game. The impact QB1 went 18/28 for 344 yards and is responsible for two touchdowns. He also was the leading rusher of the day with 44 yards. Martinez is the first quarterback in the UFL to throw for over 300 yards.
The Stallions offense also had help from their running backs. Ricky Person Jr. rushed for 37 yards with one touchdown. C.J. Marable chipped in 19 rushing yards and one touchdown.
The Birmingham receiving core pulled off some impressive grabs which helped lengthen drives at crucial moments. Deon Cain led the effort with seven receptions for a season-best 144 yards. Jace Sternberger followed with four receptions for 73 yards. Ricky Person Jr. rounded out a solid performance with two receptions for 39 yards.
The defense continued their stunning season with an impressive eight sacks (a new league season-high), one interception and limited the Showboats to just 20 rushing yards for the game. Kyahva Tezino leads the defense with 10 tackles, five solo, and 0.5 sacks. Madre Harper stood out with seven tackles, five solo. Lorenzo Burns defended the pass game fiercely with six tackles, four of them solo, and one pass break up.
The Stallions improve to 3-0 for the season with another home matchup against the D.C. Defenders slated for next week.
