Bigras Named Attacker of the Week

The Owen Sound Attack has named rookie defenseman Chris Bigras (be-graw) the Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 29th, 2012. Bigras, an Elmvale native has been playing his best hockey of the season after coming back from the World Under-17Challenge.

On Friday evening in Kitchener, Bigras picked up an assist on the Attack's 4th goal and also finished the game with a +2 rating. On Saturday, the Guelph Storm rolled into town and Bigras picked up right where he left off on Friday evening, notching an assist in a 3-2 Attack loss.

Despite not earning a point in Sunday afternoon's contest, Bigras played what might have been his best game in an Attack uniform. With Kyle Hope suspended and Kurtis MacDermid on the sidelines, the Attack were left to play with five defenseman. Shortly into the contest, five became three when Jake Dotchin and Jay Gilbert fell to injury, which left the Attack with three regular defenseman in their lineup. Bigras logged significant minutes during the contest, including being called upon in the late minutes when the Attack tried to even the game.

The Attack is back in action on home ice this Friday when Bruce Telecom presents the Attack vs. the Spitfires. The Attack is also home on Saturday evening against the Belleville Bulls. A reminder to fans that Saturday evening if the 4th and final Early Bird Season Ticket holder rain check night. Game time for both games is 7:30pm.
