
Biggio Triples, Murphy Picks Up Win In Nwl Vs. Pio All-Star Game

Ogden, UT- Vancouver Canadians 2B Cavan Biggio went 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of RBI while RHP Pat Murphy was the pitcher of record as the Northwest League topped the Pioneer League 11-5 at the 2016 All-Star Game in Ogden, UT.
Biggio's triple, that scored both Chris Pieters (Eugene) and Xavier Turner (Spokane), came in the top of the 4th, which saw the Northwest League bust out for seven runs off of Pioneer League pitching. Biggio, the Canadians second baseman, would also single in the top of the 5th inning before he was removed for Kevin Rivera in the home half of the frame.
Vancouver catcher, Javier Hernandez would enter the game defensively in the bottom of the 7th inning, going 0-for-1 (groundout) while receiving pitches from three of the top pitchers in the Northwest League.
On the mound, Canadians RHP Patrick Murphy would go one innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, yet earned the victory shortly after the Northwest League burst out with a seven-run inning which was more than enough to secure the win.
Notes: Spokane Indians 3B Xavier Turner was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and was named the 2016 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player... The NWL pounded out a All-Star Game record 19 hits in the victory as the nine-inning classic completed in 2 hours and 54 minutes in front of 5,339 fans at Lindquist Field in Ogden, UT... The 2017 Northwest League vs. Pioneer League Game was awarded to Hillsboro, Oregon.
The Vancouver Canadians travel to Eugene, OR on Wednesday, August 3rd to resume the second half of the NWL schedule as of Thursday, August 4th at 7:05pm. Vancouver returns to historic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, August 9th at 7:05pm to open a three-game series against North Division rival Everett.
