Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - After an exciting opening weekend, Entercom Communications and Raley Field's "Biggest Show on Snow" will be temporarily closed due to an unforeseen equipment malfunction. The park and activities, including ice skating and the ice slide, are tentatively expected to reopen Saturday, 11/28, at noon.

"We experienced an unfortunate failure with one of the chiller machines that keeps the ice frozen," explained River Cats General Manager Chip Maxson. "A new machine will be installed and we plan to re-open the gates at Raley Field in time for the holiday weekend." The chiller machines are what keep the ice frozen, reliable and safe in outdoor conditions. The Biggest Show on Snow will reopen after Thanksgiving once the ice has been refrozen and made safe, allowing Raley Field's employees to enjoy the holiday with their family and friends.

The Biggest Show on Snow will reopen with the full slate of activities and events for guests. In addition to the regulation-size ice rink and ice slide, guests can also enjoy the holiday lights and decorations of Santa Land (complete with a nightly snowfall), take pictures with Santa, pick out a Christmas tree, enjoy various theme nights (including Princess & Pirate Night and Ugly Sweater Night) and more.
