
Biggest Hockey Event Ever in New Mexico as North American Prospects Hockey League Event to be Held at Outpost Ice Arenas in Albuquerque

(Albuquerque, NM) - The New Mexico Ice Wolves^© organization and Outpost Ice Arenas today announced a milestone weekend as the North American Prospects Hockey League's (NAPHL) T1ER League West Showcase and NAHL Experience comes to Albuquerque for the first time ever running Friday-Sunday, November 17-19. The NAPHL T1ER League is sanctioned by USA Hockey and is designed to maximize the exposure of all the participants through the NAHL's high-profile recruiting events that attract hundreds of college, junior and professional scouts. Currently in its 15^th season in 2023-24, the NAPHL is composed of 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U teams from across North America that compete at the Tier I and Tier II levels. The NAPHL T1ER League West Showcase event in Albuquerque will feature 16 teams comprised of 18U and 16U players who along with coaches will also have access to Outpost Ice Arenas full suite of hockey facilities used by the NM Ice Wolves NAHL and NA3HL teams including the Speed Gym, training rinks, full-service hockey and skate shop, team lounge, video room and locker rooms. NAPHL T1ER League Showcase games are free to the public and run from Friday at 8am MT through Sunday at around 3:30pm MT.
"This will be the biggest hockey weekend to ever hit New Mexico and it's an excellent opportunity for hockey fans to watch some of the best young players in the nation as they play and experience the culture of the New Mexico Ice Wolves organization and all of what the Outpost Ice Arenas has to offer," said Stan E. In addition to the weekend NAPHL T1ER League West Showcase and NAHL Experience, Outpost Ice Arenas also plays host to NM Ice Wolves mid-week home games against South Division rival El Paso Rhinos. Coming off a close loss last night the NM Ice Wolves look to rebound with a win tonight with a special 6pm MT school night start time. Then the team welcomes South Division rival the Colorado Grit for a three-game homestand over the weekend with Friday and Saturday games at 7:30pm MT and Sunday's game starting at 5pm MT. The NM Ice Wolves will also host a special guest over the weekend welcoming former NAHL goalie Derek Schaedig who played for Harvard University and authored Junior Ice Hockey: The Leagues Before The League about the unique experience that junior hockey provides to players, families, host families and communities. Schaedig will join the team's broadcast on NAHLTV Friday and Saturday, as well as signing copies of his book on Saturday, November 18 from 10am MT - 10:30pm MT. About T1ER League The T1ER League's primary mission is to provide development and exposure opportunities for players as they advance on the path to one day play high level junior and college hockey. Members of the T1ER League get the opportunity to attend some of the most dynamic and highly scouted events. Select events take place during the same time as NAHL events, which usually feature every NAHL, NCAA Division I, and every NHL team along with dozens of junior scouts under one roof. The T1ER League has enjoyed a record-breaking amount of advancement in recent seasons due to enjoying the opportunities provided by the Multi-Advancement Path to all levels of junior hockey. In the last five years, no other USA Hockey Midget Tier I league has had more players tendered in the NAHL than the T1ER League. In 2023, a total of 95 NAPHL T1ER players were either drafted or tendered by NAHL teams, which set new single-season record. Over 100+ T1ER alumni are currently rostered in the NAHL. In addition, five former T1ER players were selected in the 2023 NHL Draft.
About NAHL Entering its 49th season in 2023-24, the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior league boasting 32 teams from across North America, prides itself on the social maturity and skill development of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey. During the 2022-23 season, the NAHL recorded 363 NCAA commitments, including 256 NCAA Division I commitments.
