Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - One of the biggest weekend series of the International Hockey League season begins tonight (Friday) at McMorran Place Arena when the Flint Generals visit the Port Huron Icehawks at 7:30 pm.

The Icehawks lead the Generals by four points for second place in the Turner Cup Playoff Race Chase. If Flint can sweep both games and conclude their weekend by beating Bloomington on home ice on Sunday afternoon, then they would move into sole possession of second place.

The Generals have notched two wins in their last three games with both coming on home ice. Flint is also 2-2-0-0 in their last four visits to Port Huron and McMorran Place Arena.

Defenseman Brock Wilson will not be with the Generals on this weekend swing as he was called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. It's the Generals fifth player to be called up to the AHL but first time for Wilson this season.

It's the fifteenth meeting of the season between the two teams with the Icehawks holding a slight edge in the series, but in the last four games each team has won twice.

Michel Beausoleil leads all active Generals in the series against Port Huron with six goals and 10 assists for 16 points. Jared Dumba has seven goals and 10 points in the series.

Tab Lardner and Kris Vernarsky lead all Icehawks against the Generals with 18 points, while Jeff Zehr has nine goals. Goaltender Marty Magers has four victories and Larry Sterling as three.

Fans can tune into the game on Unforgettable 1470 WFNT and www.flintgenerals.com, beginning with the Generals Pre-Game Report Protected by Teachout Security at 7:10 pm. Denis J. Puska has the call at 7:30 pm. For just $6 fans can watch the game live on the B2 Networks, but a high speed internet connection is required in order to view the game.

Don't forget the Flint Generals return to Perani Arena and Event Center on Sunday at 4 pm when they host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder. There will be a post game jersey auction of the Generals game worn white jerseys. McCarty's Army will be in attendance to sell merchandise and proceeds to benefit the McCarty Cancer Foundation.

Tickets available at the Ticketmaster Box Office or on line at www.flintgenerals.com and by calling 744-0580. For further information on Group Tickets for 15 or more contact the Generals Corporate Office at 742-9422.
