MUSKEGON - The Bloomington Prairie Thunder scored once in each period, downing the Muskegon Fury Friday at Walker Arena, 3-1. Bloomington's Adam Edinger made it 1-0 2 minutes and 45 seconds into the first period. Neil Clark made it 2-0 in the second period with the Prairie Thunder on the 5-on-3, scoring 3:57 into the second to make it 2-0.
The Fury's lone goal came in the second off the stick of Billy Collins. Fresh out of the penalty box, Collins took a feed from Dan Riedel and headed toward the Bloomington net. Collins' initial shot was blocked, but he spun and backhanded the rebound into the net 5:15 into the second period, making it 2-1. The goal was Collins' 30th of the season, while the assist extended Riedel's point streak to 11 straight games. Blake Stewart made it 3-1 for Bloomington 12:10 into the third, while Loic Lacasse blocked all 13 Fury shots he faced in the period to keep the Fury at bay.
Lacasse finished with 36 saves to get the win in net for the Prairie Thunder, while Isaac Reichmuth stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced for the Fury.
The Fury fall to 32-30-3-2 on the season. With Kalamazoo's loss, the Fury hold on to fourth place in the International Hockey League with 69 points. Muskegon returns to the ice Saturday at Fort Wayne.
