October 22, 2019 - National Arena League (NAL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE - The 2019 NAL Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced today that they have re-signed Defensive Lineman Aaron Bellazin for the 2020 season. Bellazin is the fifth 2019 player to re-sign with the Sharks under Head Coach James Fuller. Within the last two weeks lineman Derrick Ziegler, Jaleel Brown, Jonathan Taylor, defensive back Tony Goodman, and linebacker Zack Brown all have re-signed with the Sharks for the 2019 season.
Aaron Bellazin (6'2,250) played a key role in the Sharks defense last year recording 17 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss (third-most on the team), nine sacks (second-most on the team), one interception, and one forced fumble. His most memorable play came from the championship game when Bellazin had a crucial interception in the fourth quarter when the Cobras were up 48 to 37 with only one minute and fifteen seconds left on the clock. The interception not only stopped the Cobras drive but Bellazin returned the interception for a touchdown sparking the Sharks late come back to reclaim the NAL title. Bellazin's pick-six was later deemed the "Number One Play" from the Championship game via jaxsharks.com.
Bellazin enters his fourth season in arena football after playing for the Texas Revolution of the Champions Indoor Football League (CIF) and the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League (IFL). Bellazin played college football at the University of North Texas (2010-2013) where he played defensive end recording 84 tackles, 15 sacks, and five forced fumbles. In 2013, he earned Conference-USA all-conference 2nd team honors.
The Sharks veteran defensive lineman is from Everman, Texas and played defensive tackle at Everman High School. During his high school career, he earned Class 4A Second Team All-State, First Team All-Area honors and was selected as a three-star athlete by rivals.com.
