Tulsa Drillers News Release

Before Friday night's game, the Tulsa Drillers coaching staff and several other Colorado Rockies scouts and minor league coaches were presented with their 2007 National League Champions rings. It unfortunately proved to be the lone highlight of the night for the Drillers, as Corpus Christi defeated Tulsa 7-3. It was the fourth victory for the Hooks in five meetings between the two teams this season. The game began promisingly for the Drillers as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on the legs of Corey Wimberly. The third baseman drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the first, then stole both second and third base. He later scored on a two-out single by Matt Miller.

Most of the Hooks damage came in a 30 minute top of the fourth inning in which they sent 12 hitters to the plate. Tulsa starting pitcher Ching-Lung Lo carried a shutout into the inning, but he walked the first hitter of the fourth and hit the second one. A run-scoring single sandwiched between two outs, tied the game and got Lo within one out of escaping the inning, but three straight hits ended his night. Reliever Jonathan George walked the first two hitters he faced to force in another run before retiring Eli Iorg to end the inning with the Hooks leading 5-1.

Single runs in the fifth and seventh innings increased the lead to 7-1.

Tulsa plated runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to complete the scoring.

Hooks starter Bud Norris allowed only the one over the first five innings to record his second victory of the season against the Drillers.

Eric Young Jr. accounted for three of Tulsa's nine hits. He finished 2-4 with a pair of doubles. Matt Miller and Neil Wilson added two hits each.

The two teams will conclude their three-game series with a rare Saturday afternoon game at Drillers Stadium. Xavier Cedeno (1-0, 1.80 ERA) will work the finale for the Drillers against Chance Douglass (1-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Hooks. First pitch for the Bark In The Park & 50¢ Hot Dog Day will be 1:05PM.
