Lake Country DockHounds News Release
OCONOMOWOC, WI. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took down the Lake Country DockHounds in a five-inning rainout by a score of 13-5 on Tuesday evening.
The biggest storyline came from the fingers of the starting pitcher Kevin McGovern. With his win tonight, he became the winningest pitcher in American Association history with 56.
The scoring began in the bottom of the first for Lake Country Jake Snider plopped a double to left field and scored with a Gabriel Noriega single. Aaron Takacs drove in Noriega with a single. The score was 2-0 DockHounds.
In the second, Evan Alexander scored for Fargo-Moorhead on a solo home run to bring Fargo within a run.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by Drew Ward and Leo Piña put F-M up 3-2 in the third, but Lake Country would score three in the next half inning.
Zion Pettigrew doubled and scored Snider to kick off the frame, followed by Noriega bringing Pettigrew across. Wilfredo Gimenez hit an RBI double for the third run of the inning.
However a huge fourth inning would put the RedHawks far ahead of the DockHounds. Seven runs would come to score, two of them coming off of walking a batter with the bases loaded. After that, the score would be 10-5.
Fargo-Moorhead would load the bases in the fifth. Christian Correa brought in all three runs with a single to right field. The throw to the plate was not in time, as the RedHawks went up 13-5.
McGovern earned the historic victory for F-M, while Brent Jones lost in relief for Lake Country. Jones gave up six runs in only 1/3 innings pitched.
The DockHounds will play the F-M RedHawks tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. You can catch the game live on AAbaseball.tv, with broadcaster Sam Matheny on play-by-play.
