Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs stormed into Regency Furniture Stadium Wednesday night for game two of three against the Long Island Ducks. After scoring first and winning game one with a three-run rally in the eighth inning Tuesday night, the Crabs put the game out of reach in the first inning, with three home runs and a team cycle.

John Ramistella hit a monster homerun to lead off the bottom of the first and gave the Blue Crabs a lead they would never relinquish. That wasn't all, as Patrick Osborn hit another home run two batters later. James Shanks then hit a triple to right-center field and scored the next at bat, a single by Michael Tucker. Tucker's single extended his hit streak to 16 games, two shy of Ramistella's mark, which is the season high for the Crabs. Ken Harvey then doubled to the left-field gap to score Tucker from first. Jeremy Owens capped off the inning with a two-run home run to finish a six-run first inning.

It was more than enough for the Blue Crabs starter, Keith Ramsey. The lefty pitched 7.1 innings, giving up four runs on 13 hits. The Ducks seven total runs failed to bring them much closer to Southern Maryland as the Crabs put up six more runs, including a three-run home run by Harvey in the fifth inning. Harvey was a triple shy of the cycle. Shanks scored four runs in the game, tying his season-high and team-high mark. Ramsey (3-1) picked up the win.

Long Island starter Julio Manon (6-3) took the loss after going 0.1 innings, giving up six runs on six hits and a walk. The Ducks have no lost 15 of their last 17 games.

The Blue Crabs (18-13, 60-41) will look for the sweep Thursday night when they send RHP Ryan Bicondoa (8-3, 4.59) to the mound against Long Island (13-18, 50-51) LHP Troy Cate (7-3, 3.58). Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
