Camden Riversharks News Release

The Riversharks defeated the York Revolution tonight, by a final score of 3-2. Camden pitcher Dewon Brazelton (6-6) picked up the win, as he gave up just 1 run and 5 hits in 6 innings of work. York's Shane Youman (1-6) suffered the loss, as he allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in just 2.2 innings. With the win, the Riversharks' season tally improves to 13-18, while York's falls to 12-21.

The Riversharks jumped out to an early lead in this game, as an RBI double by shortstop Bryant Nelson scored Wayne Lydon in the 1st inning. They then added a second run in the 3rd inning, courtesy of an RBI single by Jose Leon that drilled York starting pitcher Shane Youman in the head, forcing him to leave the game.

The Sharks extended their lead by one more run in the fourth inning, and took a 3-0 lead. With two runners in scoring position, right fielder Chris Walker hit a soft dribbler for a base hit that scored left fielder Garret Guzman. The run gave Walker his 41st RBI of the season.

York pulled back a run in the 5th inning, making the score 3 to 1 in favor of the home team. Right fielder Matt Esquivel led off the inning with a deep triple to center field. Two batters later, center fielder Kennard Jones grounded out to third base, but plated Esquivel in the process, and got the visitors on the board.

The Revolution continued to chip away at the Riversharks' lead in the 8th inning, and made it a one run game. An RBI groundout by first baseman Matt Padgett drove in Keoni DeRenne, and made the score 2-3 heading into the final inning of the game.

With a one run lead in the 9th, the Riversharks put the ball in the hands of closer Franklin Perez, who sealed the win for Camden. Perez retired the side in order and picked up his second save of the season in the process.

The Riversharks and Revolution will wrap up their three game series tomorrow at 11:05am. Lefty Ryan DiPietro (3-6, 5.08) will take the mound for the Riversharks, and he will be opposed by right hander Dan Foli (3-10 6.35) from York. Limited seating for the game is still available.
