Lake Country DockHounds News Release
OCONOMOWOC, WI. - The Lake Country DockHounds took down the Sioux Falls Canaries 10-5 on Tuesday evening.
After losing ten consecutive games, the DockHounds got back on track with a win against the Canaries, and it was early hitting that propelled them early.
Sioux Falls got on the board in the first with back-to-back home runs by Jabari Henry and Gavin LaValley. The score was 2-0 in favor of the Birds.
But an early 2-0 deficit wouldn't affect the 'Hounds and their ability to score. Daikan Yoh immediately reached base with a single, extending his hit streak to 10 games. After Yoh stole second base, TJ Bennett drove him in with a double. Jake Snider notched a ground-rule double by plopping a fair ball into the bullpen, to score the third run of the first frame.
Tristen Carranza reached third once Wilfredo Gimenez one-hopped the wall with a ground-rule double of his own. Casey Dykstra blasted a three-run homer to make the score 6-2 for Lake Country.
In the second inning, Daikan Yoh scored off Gabriel Noriega's double-play ball, and Jordan Schaffer scored an unearned run on a throwing error by LaValley. The score was then 8-2.
LaValley scored Zane Gurwitz in the third and fifth innings to make trim the lead to four runs.
In his first hit with the DockHounds, Brandon Chinea knocked in Dykstra with a single. This occurred in the sixth inning. Lastly, TJ Bennett would put the cap on the contest with an RBI single in the eighth.
Bennett and Yoh both played exceptionally well in game one. They both went 4-for-5 at the plate, and Bennett drove in two runs.
The DockHounds will continue their homestand with game two of the series against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Wednesday, August 10th. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Broadcaster Sam Matheny will be on the call, live from Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
