Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, two time Kelly Cup Champions and ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today that the club has signed defenseman Rick Pinkston to a new deal for the 2016-2017 season.
"Rick is a solid, physical and smart defenseman," said Allen Americans Head Coach and General Manager Steve Martinson.
Rick Pinkston joined the Americans last season as a rookie, after playing four seasons at Dartmouth College. The native of Trenton, Michigan, had 14 points in 45 games last year in Allen, while playing a big role for the Americans on their penalty kill unit.
"It's definitely exciting to be back in Allen", said Pinkston. "Between the fans, the town and the coaching, it's arguably the best place to play in the ECHL. I can't wait to get this going and start our pursuit of a third straight Kelly Cup."
Pinkston was assigned to Allen last season by the San Jose Sharks. He played in five games for the Americans AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, last season finishing with five penalty minutes and a plus two overall.
The Americans home opener is less than a month away, as the club will raise another championship banner to the rafters on October 15th against the Missouri Mavericks. Tickets for opening night are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com or call (972) 912-1000.
