Midland, MI - Dustin Biell belted another home run and had a career-high four hits to lead the Hot Rods to a season-ending 7-1 win on Monday afternoon. The victory over the Great Lakes Loons leaves the Hot Rods with a 4-2 record on their final road trip. Overall, they finished 2010 with 61 wins and 78 losses.

The early back-and-forth started in the top of the second inning as the Hot Rods broke a scoreless tie. With two outs and Biell at second base, Tomas Francisco lined a single through the middle to give the Hot Rods a 1-0 lead.

Great Lakes evened the score in the bottom of the second before the Hot Rods took the lead for good in the third. Tied at 1-1, Kyle Spraker singled and was forced to second on a sacrifice by Robi Estrada. After a strikeout and a walk, Julio Cedeno singled through the middle to plate Spraker for the 2-1 lead.

An inning later Biell struck again to add another run. Leading off the fourth, Biell smashed a solo home run to deep right-center field to make it a 3-1 game against starter Edwin Contreras. The homer was Biell's second of the series, his third on the season-ending road trip, and his sixth overall in 2010.

C.J. Riefenhauser started the game for the Hot Rods and was strong once again. In his second outing, he went a career-high five full innings allowing one run on six hits. The lefty got some help from his defense as the final two outs came on a fly ball to right field in the fifth inning with a man at third. Brett Nommensen made the catch in right and then threw out Rafael Ynoa at the plate to keep the Hot Rods lead at 3-1.

The Hot Rods took the momentum of the great defensive play and scored another pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning. Cedeno doubled followed by a walk to Ryan Wiegand to knock Contreras out of the game in favor of lefty Andy Suiter. The new pitcher gave up consecutive singles to Biell and Francisco, plating a fourth Hot Rods run. Dave Wendt then followed with an RBI groundout to push the lead to 5-1.

The Hot Rods added one more run in the seventh as Suiter issued a pair of walks to Nommensen and Cedeno to begin the inning. After a failed double steal resulted in Cedeno's retirement at second, Wiegand plated Nommensen on a groundout to build the lead to 6-1.

Former WKU Hilltopper J.B. Paxson came on in the eighth inning for Great Lakes and he proceeded to give the Hot Rods another run. He hit Wendt to begin the inning before Spraker picked up his second hit to put runners at first and second. Estrada then greeted Paxson with a wall-ball double to right field to score Wendt and make it a 7-1 margin.

Biell led the offense with the second four hit game of his career, belting a homer, a double, and two singles. He finished the final road trip in style, picking up nine hits, including three long balls and two doubles. Cedeno had three hits and finished the season by hitting safely in 15 of the last 18 games, raising his average to .261 on the season.

Shane Minks (2.0 IP, 0 ER), Matt Stabelfeld (1.0 IP, 0 R), and Jake Sullivan (1.0 IP, 0 R), closed down the game for the Hot Rods for their 61st win. Riefenhauser earned the win to finish the year with a 1-0 record and a 1.00 ERA in two starts.

The Hot Rods now turn their attention to the 2011 season, which begins on the road in Dayton, OH, on April 7. The Hot Rods return home for the home opener on April 11 against the Fort Wayne TinCaps (San Diego Padres).
