INDIANAPOLIS - Kevin Kramer was a one-man wrecking crew against Louisville on Aug. 31 at Victory Field. The Tribe second baseman logged a career-high tying four RBI thanks to a 4-for-5 showing at the plate, with three of his four knocks going for extra bases.
The Indians fell behind Louisville 1-0 but responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, the second coming on Kramer's first double of the game. He hooked a 1-1 pitch from southpaw Brandon Finnegan into the right-field corner. Finnegan pitched out of the Kansas City Royals' bullpen in the 2014 World Series.
The Bats eventually tied the game at 2-2 in the second, but Kramer delivered another go-ahead hit when he scorched a grounder to Louisville second baseman Steve Selsky. The smash caromed off Selsky's chest into shallow right field, resulting in a two-run double for Kramer.
Louisville again tied the game at 4-4 with two runs in the sixth, giving Kramer another opportunity to play hero. Indy's home run leader came through to start the eighth, blasting his 15th homer of the season to deep right on a 3-2 fastball by Tanner Rainey to give Indy a 5-4 advantage.
The fourth hit by Kramer and last of 11 for the Indians came with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Trailing 6-5, Kramer followed a Jose Osuna single with one of his own to give him his third game with four or more hits in 2018. Kramer's four-RBI performance was his second of the season and fourth of his career, as well.
