Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Hogan Davidson was the hero on Saturday night as the Brahmas took a 2-1 overtime victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays.
Just like last night, Alex Berardinelli started the scoring after tipping home a Peter Kessel wrister on the power play. It would be the only tally of the first period.
The second frame flew by scoreless but there was a slew of infractions that included Mason Krueger of the IceRays being ejected for a helmet removal, match penalty on defenseman John Zimmerman.
Bud Madej and Tucker Bender got the final frame of regulation started off promptly with a fight just ten seconds in. The scrap was a result of Madej boarding Brad Power, which ultimately ended Madej's night.
With just five minutes remaining, goaltender Corbin Kaczperski came out of his cage and turned the puck over, leading to the IceRays only goal of the night. Michael Bevilacqua was credited with the goal.
That took things to overtime in which the new three-on-three format displayed an extensive amount of high intensity action. In the final seconds Hogan Davidson jumped over the boards and streaked into the zone where he received a pass from Martin Mellberg and ripped a slap shot over the shoulder of Graham Hunt.
The NYTEX Sports Centre crowd erupted and the Brahmas goal light flicked with the scoreboard displaying just 0.7 seconds.
Davidson's game winner gives the team a split over the IceRays and just one game left remaining in the weekend. Tickets for Monday's contest are still available and can be purchased at 817-336-4ICE, atop your screen under the TICKETS tab, or by coming by the NYTEX Sports Center Box Office.
