PITTSFIELD, Mass. - When the Worcester Bravehearts needed a spark at the plate, outfielder Jordan Berry once again answered the call.

Thanks to Berry's efforts, Worcester captured an 8-4 victory in Game 1 of the best-of-three semifinal series against the Pittsfield Suns on Aug. 10 at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, Mass.

With the Bravehearts trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, Berry hit a 2RBI single to score second baseman Darian Ramage and third baseman Dylan Harris.

Pittsfield tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Berry struck again in the eighth inning, as he cleared the bases with a go-ahead grand slam off Suns reliever Alex Lagos to give the Bravehearts a commanding 6-2 lead.

Marlboro, Mass., native Charlie Butler got the win, as he relieved Bravehearts starter Kyle Slinger in the sixth inning. Butler gave up only two hits in 2.2 innings of work, and both runs scored off him were unearned. Lagos took the loss, as he surrendered four runs on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

Neither starter got a decision, as Slinger struck out six in 5.1 innings, while giving up two runs on five hits. In only his second pitching appearance of the year, Suns starter Michael Valentin Jr.

tossed 5.2 innings with two runs on four hits.

Despite committing three errors in the contest, the Bravehearts recorded 11 hits in the comeback victory.

The Suns and Bravehearts will meet again for Game 2 at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 11 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. If the Bravehearts win, they advance to the FCBL Championship Series against either the Torrington Titans or Martha's Vineyard Sharks.
