Renyolds Helps Suns Down Brockton

The Pittsfield Suns (1-0) beat the Brockton Rox (0-1) 8-3 on Saturday at Campanelli Stadium behind Luke Renyolds, who had two extra base hits.

He homered in the fifth inning, doubled in the seventh inning, and singled in the eighth inning.

Oliver Collette had an impressive outing against the Brockton Rox's lineup. Collette held the Brockton Rox hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Cale Giddings was hot from the plate for the Brockton Rox. Giddings went 1-1, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the ninth inning.

Mitch Holt recorded his first win of the year for the Pittsfield Suns. He allowed two runs over five innings. Holt struck out three, walked three and gave up seven hits.

Simon Mathews was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

Derek Gardella, Renyolds and Zach Tower helped lead the Pittsfield Suns. They combined for seven hits and six RBIs.
