Bergin, Monger Homeruns Lead Cats

FORT WORTH-- The Fort Worth Cats (44-27) used a pair of home runs to blank the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (33-39) 5-0 Tuesday night at LaGrave field.

Cameron Monger broke a scoreless tie in with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning, giving Fort Worth an early 1-0 lead.

In the fifth inning David Bergin blasted his United League leading 16th home run making it 2-0 Cats.

The Cats used a three run eighth inning to pull away from RGV, the scoring started on a bases loaded walk scoring Luany Sanchez.

With the bases loaded Chris Christopoulos scored on a passed ball adding to their lead 4-0.

Monger later scored Kori Melo on a sacrifice fly making it 5-0, the five run lead was enough as the Cats shut out the Wings for a third time in four nights.

James Giuliett (4-3) got the win tossing six innings while fanning eight, meanwhile the loss was charged to A.J Smouse (4-7), Smouse took the tough luck loss giving up just two runs on five hits.

The Wings complete their 12 game road trip at Edinburg Baseball stadium where the Wings take on Tim Battle and the Edinburg Roadrunners, with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
