July 18, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks had bases loaded in the top of the 9th inning, trying to rally against the Puget Sound Emeralds, but Jerren Larimer grounded out to 2nd base as the Bend fell to Puget Sound in non-league action 9-5 on Wednesday from Vince Genna Stadium.

The Elks got off to a good start as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning as Justin Erlandson walked to kick off the home 1st, stole 2nd, and scored on an RBI single from Jordan Aboites to make it 1-0. After Landon Frost walked, Brendan Schaffer singled and Aboites and Frost came around to score on a throwing error, and Bend took the early 3-0 lead.

The Emeralds responded 7 runs in the top of the 2nd inning, sending every hitter to the plate against Elks starter Connor Harris, who did not have his best outing. Puget Sound would take the 7 runs and coast the rest of the way, defeating the Elks 9-5.

The Elks will return to West Coast League action on Friday to start a 3 game series with the Cowlitz Black Bears in Longview, WA to close out the first half of the West Coast League season before the WCL All-Star Break.
