Kelowna Falcons News Release

What a difference a day makes. 24 hours after Kelowna Falcons allowed 22 runs and 24 hits; they would shutdown the Wenatchee Applesox on Wednesday night behind a great performance on the mound by Preston Gray. The Falcons would beat the Sox 8-3.

Gray would go the distance for his first complete game of the season and second win, scattering 12 hits and striking out one.

Back on Tuesday night, despite the Falcons loss they did collect 10 runs and 12 hits, a trend that would continue on Wednesday night belting out 13 knocks in their 12th win of the year.

In the fourth inning the Falcons would get on the board first with a pair of runs. After Scotland Church would score on a double steal, Jarryd Klemm would double home Grayson Porter to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Wenatchee would finally get to Gray in the fifth to cut the lead in half.

The Falcons would respond immediately in the top of the sixth as Klemm recorded his second RBI of the night with a sac fly to bring home Porter.

In the seventh the Falcons would add two more runs. Nathan Robertson would score on a wild pitch, before Porter smacked his third hit of the night to bring home Church.

The offense would tally another pair of run in the eighth when Robertson collected an RBI with a single to score Klemm. Later in the inning with Chandler Tracy standing at third, Joe Robbins would bring him in with an RBI sac fly.

In the ninth, the Falcons would score for the fourth consecutive inning after AJ Young singled home Porter for his third run scored.

Gray would give up two runs in the bottom half of the ninth inning, but would still hang on for the complete game victory.

Five Falcons hitters would tally multi hit games as Church, Young, Klemm and Robertson had two each while Porter collected three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored in five at bats.

The Falcons and Sox will play the series rubber match on Thursday night when Jason Mouton gets the start.
